I travel a whole lot, and when I do it's good to know that I'm working with an experienced, LGBT friendly company. That's why I wanted to take this time to introduce you all to oh-so-supportive Travelocity Gnome and his Coming Out for 2009!

Travelocity has been a strong advocate of the gay & lesbian community for several years now... they simply decided it was time to "step it up" a notch. I couldn't be more excited that my favorite tourism industry mascot is wearing the proud colors of our community.
On this blog, and their accompanying Facebook Group, Twitter page and more, I will definitely be following this gnome to stay on top of not only some of the hot, new gay travel packages Travelocity is offering daily, but also the events and adventures of the GLBT Travelocity team as they circle the globe promoting their company and meeting-and-greeting you all in various GLBT travel expos, conferences and conventions around the world.

So be sure to check out their new blog at:

... as well as their new Facebook Group and Facebook Fan Page, found at:

I just love the travel industry's support of LGBT people. Carlson Companies (Carlson Wagonlit | SATO Travel) scored a perfect 100% on HRC. This public of a coming out is very commendable.

I knew I liked that Gnome I just couldn't put my finger on why. lol
No really though I think it is great that such a widely known company is not afraid to not only support the LGBT community but to shout it to the world.

Kudos to Travelocity!

This is totally cool! Gotta say it ranks right up there with Dumbledore being outed by J.K. Rowling... ;)

Thank you for the comment regarding the travel industry as a whole. It is especially interesting to know that CWTSatoTravel scores so highly with HRC, particularly due to the fact they are the leader in Government and Military Markets. While certain aspects of the government sector remain extremely discriminatory in their practices, their contractors do not. Hmmmmm...

Dumbledore is Gay?! Ok I missed something here. I have read all of the books and seen all of the movies. How could I miss it?

It wasn't openly discussed in the books. The Rowlings came forward in an interview advising that while writing his character, she considered him to be gay.

*SPOILER ALERT, STOP READING IF YOU INTEND TO WATCH/READ HARRY POTTER AND HAVE NOT*

Of course, the gay got killed.

OMG...you PEOPLE! That's right, I said it... YOU PEOPLE, as in Potter People, are crazy! Perhaps Potter People will be the next minority the majority denies equal civil liberties to. Watch your back! First they came for the blacks, then they came for the women, the queers...and now the Potter People...who's next?
